Opening of Skellig Six18 Distillery

In an old warehouse in Cahersiveen, that use to house the boats that would take visitors each summer to Skellig Michael, Skellig Six18 Distillery has come to life!

The name of the distillery is insipired by the 618 steps it takes to get to the top of Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Skellig Michael is 12 km off the south coast of Kerry, only a short spin from Cahersiveen. The Skellig Islands have always been a popular tourist attraction for visitors, but in recent years its popularity has soared due to the Island being used in the new Star Wars films.

We are very excited about the new distillery here in Cahersiveen, and very proud to be stocking their gin here in Quinlan & Cooke.

The distillery is focusing on sustainability utlizing an onsite well, with water pouring down from the Beenatee mountain as well as a rainfall collection on the roof of the distillery. The main botanicals in the gin are Yarrow, Douglas Fir and Birth Tree Sap, all of which are found locally. The team recommend a Skellig Six18 Gin & Tonic to be garnished with a slice of grapefruit to accent these flavours.

Skellig Six18 Gin has been flying off the shelves and we cannot wait to try their whiskey in a few years, we are sure it will be amazing!

Congratulations to the whole Skellig Six18 Team, we are looking forwarded to working with you and we are always on hand for sampling!
